A recent British study has found that the growth of the brain lasts until almost the age of forty and then it stops afterwards.  Another study affirms that the mental capacities start to deteriorate after the age of forty. Amazingly, the holy Qur’an says that man reaches the age of full strength when he becomes forty and then consequently starts deteriorating after wards. Allah, the almighty says in the holy Qur'an:

 “We have enjoined on man kindness to his parents: In pain did his mother bear him, and in pain did she give him birth. The carrying of the (child) to his weaning is (a period of) thirty months. At length, when he reaches the age of full strength and attains forty years, he says, "O my Lord! Grant me that I may be grateful for Thy favour which Thou has bestowed upon me, and upon both my parents, and that I may work righteousness such as Thou mayest approve; and be gracious to me in my issue. Truly have I turned to Thee and truly do I bow (to Thee) in Islam."” Ahqaf: 46: 15

Our question to all skeptics of the message of Islam is how Prophet Mohammad, PBUH, knew that the age of forty is the separating line between the completion of mental capacities and the deterioration of such capacities.

İngiltere’de yakın zamanda yapılan bir araştırmada, insan beyninin yaklaşık olarak kırk yaşına kadar sürekli bir şekilde gelişme gösterdiğini, kırk yaşından sonra ise durakladığını ortaya koymuştur. Yapılan diğer bir araştırmada ise, akli yetenek ve gücün de aynı şekilde kırk yaşından sonra gerilediğini teyit etmiştir. İlginç olan şu ki, Kuran-ı Kerim insanoğlunun kırk yaşında gerçek güç, olgunluk ve kemaline erdiğine, kırk yaşından sonra da bunun geriye dönüş yaptığına işaret etmektedir. Yüce Allah şöyle buyuruyor: “Nihayet insan, güçlü çağına erip kırk yaşına varınca der ki: Rabbim! Bana ve anne babama verdiğin nimete şükretmemi ve razı olacağın yararlı iş yapmamı temin et” (Ahkaf: 15). Şimdi birlikte İslam risalesinin hak olduğundan şüphe edenlere şu soruyu soralım: Acaba Peygamber (s.a.v.), kırk yaş sınırının insan aklı için bir dönüm noktası olduğunu, kırkından sonra ise bu güç ve kemalin gerileme ve zayıflama gösterdiğini nasıl bilmiştir?
